This Valentine’s weekend marks our first weekend trip by ourselves without our little guy. We will be celebrating Valentine’s day, and also our marriage surviving our first year as parents. It was a rough first year for sure, but we definitely learned a lot about each other as a couple, an individual, and as a parent. Let’s be honest marriage is a whole other ball game when it comes to having kids. It takes a lot of work, lots of planning, communicating, and patience to get through this parenting life together.

Country, Love, and Rock and Roll

This past weekend was a great weekend spent with my family on the farm. We were all rooting for the Broncos for the Super Bowl and were so happy they won. Congrats to my favorite QB of all time Peyton Manning and his win. Not only is he a great player but a great role model. I grew up watching Peyton play for the Tennessee Volunteers, to the Colts, and now the Broncos. Now if only the Texans would draft him that would be icing on the cake!;) But now that football season is over, it’s time look forward to Valentines Day and Rodeo Season!

Pretty in Pink

This past weekend I attended my dearest friend, sister, PIC, and fellow Houston Blogger Style the Girl‘s baby shower. I was so excited to share this moment with her and all her dear friends and family to honor her little girl Sofia Everly. It was everything you would imagine a little girl’s baby shower would be, filled with pink, lace, and all things shabby chic. As her Phi Mu sister we were excited to welcome the first legacy in our group of friends. All of our other sisters, including myself, had boys, and we ready to add a girl in the group.

The Best of 2015 – A recap of my First Year Blogging

The Best of 2015

I can’t believe it’s already 2016. 2015 flew by and I couldn’t be more thankful for all the blessing we received. It was a year of ups and downs, but overall I wouldn’t change it one bit because through all life’s challenges I have grown so much and become a better person because of it. This year I became a mom. We welcomed our wonderful son Jayden into the world on January 19, 2015. I never knew how much I could love something until he came into this world. It scared me how much I loved him, I would die for him. protect him with all my being, and I would go to the moon and back just to give him the world. He was my inspiration this year, and because of him I became a better blogger. Because of him I was able to step back from my full time career to focus on being a mother and it also allowed me to pursue blogging. I’ve blogged about being a mother, fitness, fashion, and photography. So if you have followed along or have just started here are my favorite posts of the year. 10 Things I’m Thankful For as A New Mom

IMG_2569Last year today, I remember being 8 months pregnant, swollen from head to toe, and missing Thanksgiving dinner after almost having a terrifying experience of getting my wedding ring stuck on my swollen finger. It was a crazy time for me and my husband, we were house hunting, last minute trying to get everything ready for our new bundle of joy. I didn’t really have time to count my blessings at that time, but I also didn’t realize how much my life would change since then.

Fast forward to today and as I sit in our new home with our 10 month old baby boy I can look back and say I am thankful for a lot of things this year as a new mom. There’s a lot of things I’ve taken for granted in my life, but now as a mom I have full appreciation for. Here are my top 10 things I am thankful for this year!

5 Golden Rules When Designing A Child’s Bedroom

nursery, nautical nursery, gender neutral, boy nursery

On the blog, all the way from London, I have Domestic Clean London sharing with us the 5 Golden Rules When Designing a Child’s Bedroom. Here are 5 great tips I used when designing Jayden’s nursery. We wanted his room to be kid friendly, bright and airy, and something he can grow in. We chose a nautical adventure theme for two main reasons: one my husband works in the maritime industry and is training to be a Captain, and secondly we wanted my son to have a sense of imagination and adventure every time he escaped in his room. Most of his room was either a gift, a heirloom piece, or an affordable piece found online on Wayfair. We were able to save so much money by comparing prices and buying online at Wayfair that we wanted to give you a chance to win this classic white and grey chevron rug featured here from Wayfair. Below is a complete tour of Jayden’s nursery and a chance to enter to win.

Postpartum Depression From a new Mom’s Perspective

11215782_909679743050_4318591635520231036_n

Recently, I’ve noticed actresses like Hayden Patinierre and Drew Barrymore opening up about their expriences with Postpartum depression. It’s something that is not really talked about because of the negative stigma behind it. When I first learned about postpartum depression it was a big controversy surrounding the Andrea Yates Case when she drowned her 5 children. I never really comprehended the issue, and still couldn’t believe how that was a thing, until I became a mom. And though Andrea Yates case may be a severe case and on the far end of the spectrum, I can finally understand from a mother’s perspective. Having a child completely changes you, and the reality is there is no preparation or advice that can really get your prepared for what happens when you have a kid. So for all my future mommas, and readers out there here is my personal story of postpartum depression. Continue reading “Postpartum Depression From a new Mom’s Perspective”
