Mother’s Day Brunch Tablescape

FEATURED ON THIS POST:

Hi friends,

Hope you had a great Mother’s Day weekend! This weekend we were so thankful to have a beautiful day to celebrate with our family. We decided to host a Mother’s Day brunch in our home because plenty of places were still not open. We recently did our back patio so it was perfect for hosting an outdoor brunch with our family. Josh cooked the sandwich fillings and pasta. I made a fruit and cheese tray and ordered the cookies and put everything together. Below is more details of our Mother’s Day brunch.

5 Things My Mom Was Always Right About

FEATURED ON THIS POST:

When I look back at my teenage years, I can honestly say I was a little prick growing up. I know it wasn’t easy raising a stubborn daughter like me who never listened, and thought I was smarter than my parents. I always thought my parents were to strict and too old fashioned, and growing up I vowed, I never would be like my mom. But then your mom’s famous last words of “one day you will know what it’s like to be a mom and one day you will know I am right” came true. I became a mom, and just like that I realized I knew nothing, just like John Snow in Games of Thrones. I realized all those years of me arguing and second guessing my mom, she was right all along. So this Mother’s Day I am dedicating this post to my mom. A tribute to all the things my mom was right about that I finally realized now that I am a mom.

A Mother’s Love – Strong As A Mother + GIVEAWAY

Happy Friday, everyone! This post might come a little later than usual. Yesterday we had a busy day with our mommy friends and went to the cutest brunch place made specially for moms with kids. There’s a park and so much room for activities, plus the food is really good too. Click here to see where we went. Today is a special post as we head into Mother’s Day weekend. I love sharing what motherhood means to me every year because it’s always fun to look back and read my thoughts back then and how they have evolved through the years. You can see my first, second, and third Mother’s Day post here. Today I wanted to share my thoughts about what it means to be strong as a mother and the one force that drives this unfathomable strength is a mother’s love. I once questioned Jesus love for us and the sacrifices he made years ago, but it wasn’t until I became a mother that I realized what that love is. I’ve never loved a man more than myself, but the day my son came into this world, there isn’t a day I wouldn’t give up my life for him. He is everything to me, my pride and joy, my greatest blessing, he is why I am the strong as a mother.  Continue reading “A Mother’s Love – Strong As A Mother + GIVEAWAY”

Being a Boy Mom

mommy and me outfits, boy mom, camo pants, black nike, mama's daily workout, tired as a mother

Three years I will be celebrating Mother’s Day as a mom, and every year it means so much more. I owe so much of who I am now to this little guy right here. I didn’t plan to be a mom, but God’s plans has a way of showing you how much more there is to life. My heart has never been bigger, my days never been happier, and I have never been stronger now that I am a mom. They say when you’re a boy mom you are always tired but your heart is always full, and to me every hour I miss sleeping is every hour I get to play with my little guy, laugh at all his shenanigans, and just watch him grow to the wonderful little guy that he is. There will always be a special bond that a mom and her little man will share. I am so thankful God made me a boy mom, because he has shown me strength, grace, and love more than I could ever imagine. Today I am sharing some fun truths about the life of being a boy mom.

Know Your Worth – A Tribute to Motherhood

Know Your Worth - A Tribute to Motherhood

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I want to address an issue that 99% of Mama’s are afflicted with on a daily, and that is “Mom’s guilt”. You know that feeling you get when you want to do something just for yourself (like going to the bathroom alone) but some how feel guilty for whatever reason it may be, because for some reason after you become a mom, personal privacy is a thing we can feel guilty about. So here’s to one day out of the year where we mom’s can shed the guilt and feel worthy of every selfish thing possible.

We have Mother’s Day just around the corner and Cinco De Mayo coming up this week. Now it might just be a Texas thing, but Cinco De Mayo is another reason to celebrate, or at least have a margarita. 😉  I can’t wait for this weekend because we are celebrating mother’s day with another fun staycation here in Houston. Stay tuned on my Snapchat @dawnpwinston for more details and live updates. Can you guess where we are going next? Until then here’s a fun Coral and Blues look for celebrating Cinco De Mayo, or brunching it up with Mom this weekend.

This weekend for my first Mother’s Day my husband took us out to the city for the day. We went to this cozy hole in the wall restaurant called Roost in Montrose to try their famous fried cauliflower and donut holes. It was amazing and I highly recommend anyone who wants to try something new. I loved their unpretentious feel and diverse menu inspired by local availability of farm fresh ingredients. After dinner my husband and I went to a local park downtown to take family pictures. I can’t believe my little man is trying to walk already. Love some of the candid pictures my hubby took of us. I know I will cherish these memories forever.

Below is a more detailed look of my outfit. Can you believe my dress and heels are less than $15! It’s a steal for a momma on a budget. I posted links below where you can purchase the items. IMG_0324 IMG_0326IMG_0327  IMG_0328 IMG_0329 IMG_0332
