Happy Friday everyone!
Alright so today is all about the evening festivities of Day two at New York Fashion Week and this velvet Military dress. It is such a big trend this fall, and I am so glad I incorporated it in one of my looks for NYFW. Plus it was the perfect outfit for the cooler weather we had that Friday night. Friday night was a fun filled night. I hosted my first event, and met one of my favorite designers and beauty bloggers. For more details of the night read more below…
In continuation from my last post, after rushing home from my showroom appointment I quickly changed into heels and headed to the rooftop bar located on the top floor of my hotel. I was hosting my first blogger mixer and I didn’t want to be late to my own event. Luckily everyone was a little late so I didn’t keep anyone waiting. The bar was hopping at 4pm right as they opened, and the drinks were dangerously good. You know the type that taste so good that you don’t realize it till it hits you. Yup, that’s what happened to me. The Roof at Park South were such wonderful host and the food was just as delicious as the drinks. I think all the girls just enjoyed having a night out with the girls to relax and put their feet up, especially in a city where you are constantly on the go, go, go!
This drink above was so good! Just what this mama needed after running around the city all day. How gorgeous are all these blogger babes that came to the mixer? They are seriously the sweetest and funniest girls I know.
Around 6:30pm I managed to excuse myself from all the fun to join my roommate Lan who just arrived back at our room. Luckily for me I didn’t have to walk very far lol. I quickly changed, because even though I was leaving my own party, I had already missed three shows that day due to over scheduling, and I was not going to miss this next one. This next show was one of my favorite shows from last year, and I was so excited to be invited to this. It was one of those dream shows I had on my checklist, and tonight I would be checking it off my list.
So Lan and I took a Lyft from our hotel to our next presentation, Michael Costello. Lan is very much a big fan of Michael Costello like I was, but she was also excited because Desi Perkins, and Katy would be there which was all news to me. I recently started following these two influencers after a beauty blogger friend of mine showed me their account. Honestly what made me fall in love with these girls is their amazing friendship. I love women who support women, and in this industry it is one of the biggest thing I preach: Community over competition.
When we arrived at the venue, there was a long line waiting to get in. I remember Lan excitingly telling me she wanted to meet Desi and Katy while we were there. Well, speak of the devil, there they were right in front of us waiting to get in as well. And me being a little toasty from my drink earlier, was extra brave, and went right up to them and told them how big fans Lan was and if we could get a picture with them. They were so sweet. Lan was so starstruck, and I was just trying to keep my composure and not look like I was tipsy in the picture lol.
Desi and Katy are such Babes! We also got a selfie with the man himself Michael Costello! So if you’ve never followed his Instagram, and just want to laugh, read his post from his clients. Not only does this guy make beautiful gowns, but his personality is what gets me. We should be best friends, lol he just doesn’t know it yet.
My favorites from his collection. One day I would love to wear one of his gowns. His shows and presentations never disappoint. They are all stunning pieces.
While we were at the show we ran into some of our Dallas blogger babes, and we also made some new friends. It was so much fun, and a dream come true. I’m still pinching myself. I can’t wait to see him again next year. After the show we headed to Shake Shack in Madison Square, only to find it super packed with the longest line at 10pm. Supposedly they were having a silent dance party. It’s a new trend where people meet up at one place and wear headphones and jam outt together. I just felt old and not up to trend lol. Since we didn’t want to wait in line we headed to another burger place down the street and stuffed ourselves silly before walking back to our hotel to call it a night.
I wore these booties and camera bag early that day with my previous outfit in my last post. These booties go with everything including this velvet Military dress and are so easy to walk everywhere in. Plus they are under $40! I added the necktie in this post to take away from how low cut the dress is. Plus I love adding a pop of color so you can stand out in a crowd. Sometimes it just takes adding a little accessory to elevate your look for NYFW.

Friday was an amazing day filled with first, first time at the Brooklyn Bridge (read previous post here), first showroom, first time hosting an event in NYC, and first time meeting my favorite designer, and beauty bloggers. This velvet Military dress was perfect outfit for the occasion. I am still in shock that this actually happened, and probably why I am writing this diary recap of my first time experience at NYFW. And just when I think it doesn’t get better, Saturday rolls around. Stay tuned next week for Saturday’s recap! Have a great weekends friends. And if you entered in the giveaway, I will be announcing the winner on Instastory today!
