Last Saturday I had such an amazing kid free day with my girlfriends and blogger babes filled with brunch, the pool, and endless amount of wine. It was definitely much-needed for this momma. Let’s face it no one likes a stressed out angry mom, and when you have been in the house all week potty training your very active two-year old like I have this past week, the walls of your home can seem like they are closing down on you. So when Saturday rolled around I chucked up the deuces at my husband and my son, and from 9am till 11pm I was nowhere to be seen. I needed a day to just recharge, hang out with my girlfriends, and feel validated that I was more than just a potty maid waiting on my son’s every bowel movement. So here’s the deal mamas I know we can feel guilty for having time for ourselves, but today I am going to prove to you why mom’s night out is beneficial for your family. So next time you do have a Mom’s Night out you can be stress and guilt free.
1. Your husband and children don’t have to hear you yell at them all day.
Yes mamas we all have been there, that point where you don’t feel like anyone is listening so you scream louder. Here’s the deal your kid’s and spouse are probably trying to avoid you and that’s why they pretend not to hear you. Maybe your stress and frustration is radiating from your voice, and unfortunately it doesn’t create for a happy home environment. When you have reached that point, it’s time to step back, take a break, call your best girlfriends for wine and coffee and let the hubs take over from there.
2. You will stop smelling.
Gosh has it been a week since you last showered, put on your makeup, and clothes outside of your PJs’ and workout clothes? I’m sure the smell of poop, day old food stains on your clothes are putting a damper on the bedroom life. There’s no better excuse to take a shower and get ready than a girls night. Trust me your husband will enjoy watching you get ready, and I’m sure he will be waiting up all night till you get home.
3. You will regain your confidence.
There’s nothing like getting together with other moms and talking about your joys and failures of motherhood, and realizing that it’s ok. It’s ok to lose your cool sometime, or to forget to take your kid to practice, or to eat out at McDonald’s for lunch every day. It’s ok, because no one is perfect, and just because you are a mom doesn’t mean you have to be either. Moms need other moms to consult, to confide, to laugh, to share their struggles and their successes, and just to be there to listen and know we are all in it together.
4. You will appreciate your family more.
Can I tell you a secret? Do you know the number one thing mom’s do on their night out? They talk about their family. They talk about their sweet little babies, their milestones, funny stories, and all their proud mommy moments. And they talk about their wonderful husbands, and how much they love and appreciate them for all they do for them and their families. There’s nothing like a Mom’s night out that helps you appreciate your family more. And by the end of the night there is nothing more that you want to do than go right back home to that crazy little family of yours and get right back into that crazy life as a mom.
I can’t get enough of this wrap dress I wore to dinner with my girlfriends this past weekend. It gives me curves in all the right places, and best part it is under $25!
This cheetah clutch is such a great dupe for under $50, and pairs perfectly with the outfit. I am obsessed with wrap around heels and this one is perfect for adding a little VAVOOM to any outfit for summer!
